Was looking at the iwill slocket II as a means of upgrading the p3 slot1 500mhz to something modern. Does anyone have any successful experiences using a slot1 to fc-pga adapter with a kayak? If so, which VRM was used?

The Kayak XA-s can be upgraded to the P3 Slot1 1000 (SL4BR or SL4KL) processor. All that you need is the newer VRM to support the lower voltage of the 1Ghz. Also you need a bios upgrade... Piece of cake

I have a XA that is single processor with no VRM as far as I can tell. Can this support the 1 Ghz?

The answer is no. It would seem that the XU 400 will only take 2.0V processors. It is rated for a PIII-500Mhz tops, but since the 600 is 2.0V as well, there may be a chance it would work.

Try to use an adapter like Slot-T(It??s an slot1 to socket 370 converter) http://www.upgradeware.com
I used it in an Vectra VEI8 and now it works with an 1,4GHz Tualatin Celeron.
Costs nearly 100 ???.
